NICOLÁS FAILLA SPITTA | BIO

Has a degree in Audiovisual Media Design (University of Buenos Aires) and studied music in the Percussion (Juan Jose Castro Conservatory) and Ethnomusicology (Manuel de Falla Conservatory) disciplines. He worked at the Audiovisual Media Experimentation Center and the Filming Set of the Buenos Aires University during 2017/2018.

Works as a filmmaker, photographer, sound designer and musician. Directs the sound studio ORIENTE | Sound Studio and the associated media company production, ORIENTE | Media Production.

Has worked on the sound post-production of the documentary Gemelos which was nominated by the Student Academy Awards (https://www.oscars.org/saa) and won the Jury Prize of VGIK Moscow Russia, among others. Has made sound design and original music score for Perro Negro, documentary made in Paraguay (RAFMA Prize at the International Film Festival of Cosquín 2017) and other short films as Salir (selected in Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, BAFICI) and The End Of Eternity (realized under the supervision of Werner Herzog). He is working on the sound design and music score of the feature films Aceldama and La Yunga (nominated at the Young Art Biennial Buenos Aires and the Mar del Plata International Film Festival 2017). He makes music videos in Todos Hacemos Música (We all make music), an NGO that seeks to improve, through music, life quality of persons with disabilities.

In 2019 he directs his first middle-length film Oriente, a visual album with 5.1 surround sound, which is selected in the Sound section in Berlinale Talents Buenos Aires 2019. He is currently investigating the expressive possibilities of immersive sound for Virtual Reality works with ambisonic spatial 360° Audio.
